SENATE BILL NO. 277

HEALTH CARE.  Provides relative to investigations by the Louisiana State Board of
Medical Examiners. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To enacted R.S. 37:1285(J), relative to investigations by the Louisiana State Board of
3 Medical Examiners; to provide for suspension, revocation, or imposition of
4 restrictions; to provide for commencement of disciplinary actions; and to provide for
5 related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 37:1285(J) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง1285. Causes for nonissuance; suspension; revocation; or the imposition of
9	restrictions; fines; reinstatement; publication of action; stays

11	J. No disciplinary proceeding provided for in this Section shall
12 commence prior to a complaint being submitted to the board in accordance with
13 R.S. 37:1285.2.

Present law relative to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (Board) provides
for the procedure and causes for refusal to issue or revocation of any license or permit under
its authority.
Proposed law provides that no proceeding for disciplinary action may commence prior to
receipt by the Board of a complaint as provided for in present law.
Effective August 1, 2018.
