Present law provides for membership on the LSBME. Present law provides for a member appointed
from a list of names submitted by Tulane Medical School. 
Proposed law repeals the appointment in present law and replaces the appointment with a non-
physician member appointed from a list of names submitted by the chairmen of the senate and house
committees on health and welfare.
Proposed law provides that the non-physician member provided for in proposed law shall serve only
one term.
Present law provides relative to investigations by the LSBME. Present law provides for the
procedure and causes for refusal to issue or revocation of any license or permit under its authority.
Proposed law provides that no proceeding for disciplinary action may commence prior to receipt by
the board of a complaint as provided for in present law.
Effective August 1, 2018.

Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Health and Welfare to the
