Present law provides for a state sanitary code.
Proposed law requires retail food establishments to maintain and promote community hygiene as part
of standardized business practices.
Proposed law provides that the Department of Health shall inspect retail food establishments no less
than four times a year. The department shall exercise the enforcement powers authorized by the
state's sanitary code when performing such inspections.
Effective August 1, 2018.
