Proposed law authorizes the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority to grant leases, and
subleases and enter any related contract or agreement referred to as a "lease", on any portion of the
land rights acquired by the authority to any of the following:
(1)A public body. The application, advertisement, and bid requirements set forth in present law
relative to leases of public lands shall not apply to such a lease contemplated under proposed
law.
(2)A private entity. The provisions of present law relative to leases of public lands shall not
apply to a mineral or timber lease with a private entity. If a private entity is obligated under
the terms of a lease to undertake activities or to construct improvements on the leased land
rights that will support the public purposes of the authority, the provisions of present law
relative to leases of public lands shall not apply to the lease contemplated under proposed
law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
