DIGEST
SB 413 Original	2018 Regular Session	White
Present law provides for the composition of the current 39 Senate Districts.
Proposed law provides for precinct reassignments in the parish of Tangipahoa. Precinct 137(B) is
reassigned from Senate District 6 to Senate District 13 and Precinct 149 is reassigned from Senate
District 13 to Senate District 6.
Proposed law specifies that precincts referenced in election section descriptions are those precincts
contained in the file named "2017 Precinct Shapefiles" published on the Louisiana Senate website.
The 2017 Precinct Shapefiles are based on those Voting Districts (VTDs) contained in the 2010
Census Redistricting TIGER/Line Shapefiles for the State of Louisiana as those files have been
modified by the staff of the Legislature of Louisiana to represent precinct changes submitted though
June 27, 2017, to the Legislature of Louisiana by parish governing authorities pursuant to the
provisions of R.S. 18:532 and 532.1.
The portion of proposed law reassigning precincts for Senate Districts 6 and 13 for the limited
purpose of qualifying candidates and electing members to the Senate is effective at 10:00 a.m.
January 13, 2020. Otherwise, proposed law is effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of
time for gubernatorial action.
