Present law provides for the Atchafalaya Basin Research and Promotion Board and the Atchafalaya
Basin Program within the Department of Natural Resources.
Proposed law transfers the Atchafalaya Basin Research and Promotion Board and the Atchafalaya
Basin Program to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
Present law provides for 14 members of the Atchafalaya Basin Research and Promotion Board.
Proposed law adds the executive director of CPRA the board.
Present law provides for four members of the Atchafalaya Basin Research and Promotion Board
chosen by the La. Police Jury Assoc., with one member designated as a voting member.
Proposed law allows for two designated voting members chosen by the La. Police Jury Assoc.
Present law requires the House Comm. on Natural Resources and Environment and the Senate
Comm. on Natural Resources to take action on the annual basin plan on or before April 15 of each
year.
Proposed law changes the committee action date to May first.
Effective July 1, 2018.
