NURSES.  Provides relative to advanced practice registered nursing. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 37:913 and to enact R.S.
3 37:913(B), relative to advanced practice registered nursing; to provide for exceptions
4 to the collaborative practice agreement requirement; to provide for technical
5 corrections; and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  The introductory paragraph of R.S. 37:913 is hereby amended and
8 reenacted and R.S. 37:913(B) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 ยง913. Definitions
10	A. As used in this Part:

12	B. The provisions of Subsection A of this Section that require a
13 collaborative practice agreement shall not apply to any advanced practice
14 registered nurse who is lawfully performing his advanced practice registered
15 nursing duties in a hospital licensed by the Louisiana Department of Health
16 pursuant to R.S. 40:2010 et seq., or a nursing facility licensed by the Louisiana
17 Department of Health pursuant to R.S. 40:2009.1 et seq.

Present law requires an advanced practice registered nurse to have a formal written
collaborative practice agreement with a licensed physician. Proposed law exempts advanced
practice registered nurses performing their duties in a hospital or nursing home from the
requirement of the formal written collaborative practice agreement. 
Effective August 1, 2018.
