Proposed law adds the defined term "chart order" and its corresponding definition to present
law, the Louisiana Pharmacy Practice Act.
Proposed law provides for the use of chart orders with respect to electronic prescribing of
noncontrolled legend drugs. Proposed law further provides for bidirectional electronic
transmission of chart orders in certain circumstances.
Proposed law stipulates that nothing therein shall be construed to require chart orders for any
medications administered in-center in outpatient dialysis facilities or for any medications for
treatment of end-stage renal disease administered as part of home-based dialysis treatments.

The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Health and Welfare to
the engrossed bill:
1. Stipulate that nothing in proposed law shall be construed to require chart orders
for any medications administered in-center in outpatient dialysis facilities or for
any medications for treatment of end-stage renal disease administered as part of
home-based dialysis treatments.
