Present law establishes the Clinical Laboratory Personnel Committee, consisting of 12 members,
within the LSBME. Proposed law increases the number of members to 14.
Present law provides for eight members appointed by the governor. Proposed law adds two
gubernatorial appointment positions for an individual nominated by the Louisiana Community
Technical College System and nominated by the Board of Regents.
Proposed law updates the association International Society for Clinical Laboratory Technology to
its current trade name of American Association of Bioanalysts.
Present law provides for initial appointments to the committee. Proposed law repeals these
provisions. 
Effective August 1, 2018.
(Amends R.S. 37:1314(B)(intro para), (C)(1)(intro para), (1)(h), (C)(3), and (D),(E), (F), (G), (H),
and (I); adds R.S. 37:1314(C)(1)(i) and (j); repeals R.S. 37:1314(J))

Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Health and Welfare to the

1. Removes all proposed changes to the membership of the Clinical Laboratory
Personnel Committee of LSBME and adds only two new members; one nominated
by the Louisiana Community Technical College System and one nominated by the
Board of Regents.
