2018 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 509 BY SENATOR MORRELL 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:9091.24(D)(1), relative to the University Neighborhood 3 Security and Improvement District in Orleans Parish; to provide for its board of 4 commissioners; and to provide for related matters. 5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 33:9091.24(D)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as 8 follows: 9 ยง9091.24. University Neighborhood Security and Improvement District 10 * * * 11 D. Governance. (1) The district shall be governed by a nine an eight-member 12 board of commissioners, referred to in this Section as the "board". The board shall 13 be composed as follows: 14 (a) The president of the University Neighborhood Association, Inc., referred 15 to in this Section as the "association". 16 (b) The board of directors of the association shall appoint three members, 17 none of whom shall be the president of the University Neighborhood Association, 18 Inc. 19 (c) The member of the Louisiana House of Representatives whose district 20 encompasses all or the greater portion of the area of the district shall appoint one 21 member from a list of nominations submitted by the association. 22 (d) The member of the Louisiana Senate whose district encompasses all or 23 the greater portion of the area of the district shall appoint one member from a list of 24 nominations submitted by the association. 25 (e) The assessor of Orleans Parish shall appoint one member from a list of 26 nominations submitted by the University Neighborhood Association, Inc. SB NO. 509 ENROLLED 1 (f) The mayor of the city of New Orleans shall appoint one member from a 2 list of nominations submitted by the association. 3 (g)(f) The member of the governing authority of the city of New Orleans 4 whose council district encompasses all or the greater portion of the area of the 5 district shall appoint one member from a list of nominations submitted by the 6 association. 7 * * * 8 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 9 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 10 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 11 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 12 effective on the day following such approval.
