ROADS/HIGHWAYS. Designates a portion of LA 377 as the "Sgt. S. E. Howell, Jr.

1 AN ACT
2 To provide relative to state highways; to designate a portion of Louisiana Highway 377 in
3 the unincorporated community of Grant, Louisiana, in Allen Parish, as the "Sgt. S.
4 E. Howell, Jr. Memorial Highway"; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the portion of Louisiana
7 Highway 377 between its intersection with K. C. Smith Road west of Fairview High School
8 and its intersection with K. C. Smith Road east of Fairview High School in the
9 unincorporated community of Grant, Louisiana, in Allen Parish, is hereby designated as the
10 "Sgt. S. E. Howell, Jr. Memorial Highway".
11 Section 2. The Department of Transportation and Development is hereby directed
12 to erect and maintain appropriate signs of this designation provided local or private monies
13 are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs for material,
14 fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed the sum of five
15 hundred fifty dollars per sign.
16 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
17 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature

1 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
2 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
3 effective on the day following such approval.

Directs DOTD to erect and maintain signs of this designation provided local or private
monies are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs for material,
fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed $550 per sign.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
