R.S. 33:9091.24(F)(7) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as 8 follows: 9 ยง9091.24. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 4 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 5 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 6 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 7 effective on the day following such approval. DIGEST SB 518 Reengrossed 2018 Regular Session Appel Present law, regarding the University Neighborhood Security and Improvement District in New Orleans, permits the Orleans Parish Sheriff to retain one percent of the amount collected as a collection fee. Present law provides for the Orleans Parish Sheriff to remit to the district all amounts collected not more than 60 days after collection. Proposed law changes the entity that collects the fee from the Orleans Parish Sheriff to the Department of Finance for the city of New Orleans and requires the Department of Finance to remit to the district all amounts collected not more than 60 days after collection.
