ACT 420 (SB 518) 2018 Regular Session Appel
Prior law, regarding the University Neighborhood Security and Improvement District in New
Orleans, permitted the Orleans Parish Sheriff to retain one percent of the amount collected
as a collection fee.
Prior law provides for the Orleans Parish Sheriff to remit to the district all amounts collected
not more than 60 days after collection.
New law changes the entity that collects the fee from the Orleans Parish Sheriff to the
Department of Finance for the city of New Orleans and requires the Department of Finance
to remit to the district all amounts collected not more than 60 days after collection.
Effective upon signature of the governor (May 23, 2018).
