SENATE BILL NO. 557

LOCAL AGENCIES.  Authorizes levee districts to provide extra compensation to certain
levee district police officers. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:1667.10, relative to levee district police; to authorize the payment of extra
3 compensation to certain levee district police officers from district funds; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1667.10 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1667.10.  Extra compensation for commissioned full-time levee district police
8	authorized
9	In addition to the compensation now paid to any levee district police
10 officer, every levee district police officer who is a full-time employee, is paid a
11 salary of not less than eight hundred dollars per month, has completed and
12 passed a post-certified training program as provided in R.S. 40:2405, and has
13 completed or hereafter completes one year of service, may be paid extra
14 compensation by the levee district with whom they are employed with district
15 funds in an amount up to but not greater than the amount authorized for
16 harbor police officers, fireboat operators, and bridge police officers by law.

Proposed law, relative to levee district police officers, authorizes the payment of extra

per month, have completed and passed a post-certified training program as provided in R.S.

whom they are employed with district funds in an amount up to but not greater than the
amount authorized for harbor police officers, fireboat operators, and bridge police officers
by law.
