SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 62

COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Mallory McConathy for being named as a student
member at large on Alpha Lambda Delta's National Council.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Mallory McConathy on being named as a student member at large on Alpha
3 Lambda Delta's National Council.
4 WHEREAS, Mallory McConathy, a junior biology major at Northwestern State
5 University, has been named a student member at large on Alpha Lambda Delta's National
6 Council to serve until June 2019; and 
7 WHEREAS, Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society that recognizes students
8 in their first year at a college/university for academic success; and
9 WHEREAS, McConathy, who is from Stonewall, Louisiana, was installed at the
10 organization's annual National Council meeting in Providence, Rhode Island; and
11 WHEREAS, the National Council is responsible for making policy decisions for the
12 national organization and is composed of three administrative members, four professional
13 members at large, three student members at large, and a historian; and 
14 WHEREAS, McConathy is the service chairman for NSU's Alpha Lambda Delta
15 chapter and, in the community, she is active in Hope for Paws, the Special Olympics, NSU
16 Food Bank, Natchitoches Boys and Girls Club, and area senior citizen projects; and
17 WHEREAS, on campus, Mallory is also the vice president of new members for
18 Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, a mentor in NSU's President's Leadership Program, an

1 orientation leader, and a member of Blue Key and Purple Jackets; and
2 WHEREAS, as a member of the National Council this year, McConathy will chair
3 the Order of the Torch committee and serve as a member on the Chapter Relations,
4 Expansion, Graduate Fellowships, and Long Range Planning committees; and 
5 WHEREAS, Mallory McConathy's enthusiasm for any worthwhile project is
6 contagious and her ability to motivate others to achieve their full potential demonstrates her
7 positive and very successful leadership style; and
8 WHEREAS, founded in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta has over one million lifetime
9 members and is present on more than 275 campuses nationwide, has as its mission to
10 "encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a continued
11 high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful
12 goals for their unique roles in society"; and 
13 WHEREAS, Mallory McConathy is a talented young woman who demonstrates
14 impeccable leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable; and
15 WHEREAS, she merits the highest commendation and most sincere congratulations
16 for her accomplishments and leadership.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 
18 commend Mallory McConathy on being named as a student member at large on Alpha
19 Lambda Delta's National Council and does hereby record for posterity the pride and honor
20 that she brings to her family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
22 Mallory McConathy.
