Expresses condolences on the death of Cecile Landry Daigle. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Cecile Landry Daigle. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana 5 learned of the death of Cecile Landry Daigle on March 15, 2017, at the age of ninety; and 6 WHEREAS, Cecile Landry Daigle, born on January 16, 1927, to Drozin and Amelia 7 Guilbeau Landry in Broussard, Louisiana, was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and enjoyed 8 playing cards and bingo with her friends in Cankton; and 9 WHEREAS, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and 10 great-grandmother who loved spending time with her loved ones; and 11 WHEREAS, prior to the death of her husband, Bennett, on August 8, 2005, Mr. and 12 Mrs. Daigle shared numerous hobbies and precious moments together; and 13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Daigle is survived by her two daughters, Sue Daigle Brooks and 14 Faye Daigle Duhon; two grandchildren, Angie Johnson and Garret Brooks; five 15 great-grandchildren, Ethan Brooks, Brayden Brooks, Eva Brooks, Aiden Landry, and 16 Elyse Johnson; one sister, Lucille Landry Sonnier; and several nieces and nephews; and 17 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Bennett 18 J. Daigle; her parents, Drozin and Amelia Guilbeau Landry; and four brothers, Phil Landry, Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 10 SLS 18RS-229 ORIGINAL 1 Alton Landry, Clarence Landry, and Lenis Landry; and 2 WHEREAS, she was a woman who was admired by all whose lives she touched and 3 will be greatly missed; and 4 WHEREAS, the death of Cecile Landry Daigle has left a substantial void in the 5 Lafayette community and a sense of loss in those lives she touched, and her memory shall 6 live forever in the minds and hearts of all those who knew and loved this remarkable 7 southern lady. 8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 9 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Cecile Landry 10 Daigle, and extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that she 11 brought to the Lafayette community and the state of Louisiana. 12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 13 family of Cecile Landry Daigle.
