SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Hospice of Acadiana on thirty-five years of service to
the people of Acadiana.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Hospice of Acadiana for thirty-five years of service to the
3 people of Acadiana.
4 WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana, founded in 1983, is the only nonprofit hospice in
5 Acadiana and one of only two in the state of Louisiana; and 
6 WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has provided comprehensive and compassionate
7 end-of-life care and services to the citizens of Lafayette, as well as to communities
8 throughout Acadiana, including programs such as We Honor Veterans, No One Dies Alone,
9 Pet Peace of Mind, Mission Moments, and Casserole Brigade; and 
10 WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has provided grief counseling services to the
11 citizens of Lafayette and surrounding communities, and its Center for Loss & Transition
12 provides free grief counseling to anyone in need, including individual counseling, support
13 groups, workshops, grief yoga, labyrinth walks, and Camp Bravehearts for grieving children;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has served more than twenty-three thousand
16 patients and families in Acadiana; and 
17 WHEREAS, the mission of Hospice of Acadiana is "To enable those with terminal
18 illnesses to live as fully and comfortably as possible; to emphasize quality of life; to help

1 people deal with grief; to be an educational resource center in the areas of death, dying,
2 terminal care, and related fields; to advocate for individuals to receive the appropriate care
3 at the appropriate time; and to reach diverse populations, honoring their customs and
4 values"; and
5 WHEREAS, the dedicated staff, volunteers, and physicians at Hospice of Acadiana
6 have provided these services for thirty-five years in an effort to ensure that "No one ends
7 life's journey alone, afraid, or in pain".
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
9 does hereby commend and congratulate Hospice of Acadiana upon thirty-five years of
10 compassionate, caring, and experienced service to the citizens of Acadiana.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Hospice of Acadiana.
