2018 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Hospice of Acadiana for thirty-five years of service to the people of Acadiana. WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana, founded in 1983, is the only nonprofit hospice in Acadiana and one of only two in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has provided comprehensive and compassionate end-of-life care and services to the citizens of Lafayette, as well as to communities throughout Acadiana, including programs such as We Honor Veterans, No One Dies Alone, Pet Peace of Mind, Mission Moments, and Casserole Brigade; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has provided grief counseling services to the citizens of Lafayette and surrounding communities, and its Center for Loss & Transition provides free grief counseling to anyone in need, including individual counseling, support groups, workshops, grief yoga, labyrinth walks, and Camp Bravehearts for grieving children; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Acadiana has served more than twenty-three thousand patients and families in Acadiana; and WHEREAS, the mission of Hospice of Acadiana is "To enable those with terminal illnesses to live as fully and comfortably as possible; to emphasize quality of life; to help people deal with grief; to be an educational resource center in the areas of death, dying, terminal care, and related fields; to advocate for individuals to receive the appropriate care at the appropriate time; and to reach diverse populations, honoring their customs and values"; and WHEREAS, the dedicated staff, volunteers, and physicians at Hospice of Acadiana have provided these services for thirty-five years in an effort to ensure that "No one ends life's journey alone, afraid, or in pain". Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 15 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Hospice of Acadiana upon thirty-five years of compassionate, caring, and experienced service to the citizens of Acadiana.
