2018 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 221 BY SENATOR MILLS A RESOLUTION To commend David Broussard for his passion and tireless dedication to ensuring government officials improve streets, intersections, and railroad crossings in New Iberia, Louisiana. WHEREAS, David Broussard is a member of the New Iberia city council representing District 3; and WHEREAS, for approximately twenty years, he has spearheaded a railroad safety project for the city; and WHEREAS, Councilman Broussard has been working with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to secure new arms and lights at railroad crossings in New Iberia, Louisiana, in order to make travel within the city safer; and WHEREAS, his chief concern is the safety of the people of New Iberia; and WHEREAS, as a result of his persistence and determination, five railroad crossings in downtown New Iberia, located at Weeks Street, Julia Street, Iberia Street, Providence Street, and French Street, are on their way to getting gates and lights; and WHEREAS, Councilman Broussard and the administration for the city of New Iberia worked to restore funding from the federal government to make those improvements a reality; and WHEREAS, his commitment to the people of New Iberia and to their safety as they navigate the roadways in New Iberia is a testament to the type of dedicated public servant he has been since his election to the city council; and WHEREAS, David Broussard merits sincere congratulations for his service as a city councilman for District 3 in New Iberia and for his contributions to the state of Louisiana and its citizens. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 221 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend David Broussard for his passion and tireless dedication to ensuring government officials improve streets, intersections, and railroad crossings in New Iberia, and does hereby recognize and record for posterity his public service to the citizens of New Iberia and to the state of Louisiana.
