SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 253

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Shreveport Mudbugs on winning the North American
Hockey League Robertson Cup championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team on winning the North American Hockey
3 League Robertson Cup championship in the 2017-2018 season.
4 WHEREAS, the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team owner, Tommy Scott, general
5 manager, Scott Muscutt, and the entire organization are to be congratulated for an
6 exceptional year of play; and
7 WHEREAS, the Shreveport Mudbugs captured their first ever Robertson Cup
8 National Championship in just their second season in the NAHL; and
9 WHEREAS, in the semi-finals, Shreveport beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights,
10 winning the series, 2-0; and
11 WHEREAS, in the finals, the Mudbugs defeated the Minot Minotauros 2-1 to win
12 the 2018 NAHL Robertson Cup National Championship in front of a packed house at
13 Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minnesota; and
14 WHEREAS, several exceptional Mudbugs players made the NAHL Robertson Cup
15 All-Tournament Team, they are Ryan Burnett, forward; Brendan VanSweden, forward;
16 Dominck Procopio, defense; and Jaxon Castor, goaltender and the team member named
17 Most Valuable Player (MVP); and
18 WHEREAS, the home of the Shreveport Mudbugs, Hirsch Memorial Coliseum has

1 a storied history including hosting ABA basketball and other entertainment attractions; and
2 WHEREAS, the Mudbugs also act as generous community partners by visiting local
3 hospitals and schools, serving meals to the under privileged, and assisting with local youth
4 hockey programs; and
5 WHEREAS, the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey organization merits a sincere measure
6 of congratulations for the success they achieved in winning the North American Hockey
7 League Robertson Cup championship in the 2017-2018 season in just their second year of
8 playing hockey in Shreveport, Louisiana.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby commend the Shreveport Mudbugs on winning the North American Hockey
11 League Robertson Cup championship.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Tommy Scott, owner, and Scott Muscutt, general manager of the Shreveport Mudbugs
14 hockey team.
