SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 86
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk Water
Ski team upon winning the 2017 National Collegiate Water Ski Association National
Championship.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk Water Ski team upon
3 winning the 2017 National Collegiate Water Ski Association National
4 Championship.
5 WHEREAS, the 2017-2018 University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk Water Ski
6 Team finished the season with a first place finish at the National Collegiate Water Ski
7 Association's thirty-ninth national championship held at Bennett's Water Ski and Wakeboard
8 School in Zachary, Louisiana, on October 19-21, 2017; and
9 WHEREAS, the Warhawk team is comprised of a group of outstanding skiers who
10 displayed skill and talent on and off the water and whose performance allowed the team to
11 earn a total of twelve thousand one hundred sixty-five points and the school's twenty-eighth
12 consecutive national championship title; and
13 WHEREAS, team member Hanna Straltsova set the new collegiate women's jump
14 record with a distance of one hundred fifty-nine feet, placed first in the slalom event with
15 a score of 3.5 buoys at thirty-eight feet off, placed third in the trick event with a score of four
16 thousand fifty points, and placed first in women's overall; and
17 WHEREAS, Siani Oliver placed second in the championship women's slalom event
18 with a score of 3.0 buoys at thirty-eight feet off; and

1 WHEREAS, Frederick Winter placed first in the championship men's slalom event
2 with a score of 2.5 buoys at forty-one feet off; and
3 WHEREAS, Thomas Poole placed second in the championship men's slalom event
4 with a score of 4.0 buoys at thirty-nine and one-half feet off and placed fifth in men's
5 overall; and
6 WHEREAS, Danylo Filchenko placed second in the championship men's trick event
7 with a score of six thousand seventy points and placed fourth in men's overall; and
8 WHEREAS, Aliaksandra Danisheuskaya placed second in the championship
9 women's jump event with a score of one hundred fifty-six feet, placed fourth in the women's
10 trick event with a score of three thousand nine hundred ten points, and placed second in
11 women's overall; and
12 WHEREAS, Emma Brunel placed fourth in the championship women's jump event
13 with a score of one hundred thirty-eight feet and placed fifth in women's overall; and
14 WHEREAS, Taylor Garcia placed first in the men's jump event with a score of one
15 hundred eighty-eight feet, placed fifth in the men's slalom event with a score of 2.0 buoys
16 at thirty-nine and one-half feet off, and placed first in men's overall; and
17 WHEREAS, the hard work, discipline, and individual performances of the Warhawk
18 ski team has rightly earned them the National Collegiate Water Ski Association National
19 Championship title for the twenty-eighth consecutive year.
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
21 does hereby commend and congratulate the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk
22 Water Ski team upon winning the 2017 National Collegiate Water Ski Association National
23 Championship.
24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
25 University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk Water Ski team, Hanna Straltsova,
26 Siani Oliver, Frederick Winter, Thomas Poole, Danylo Filchenko,
27 Aliaksandra Danisheuskaya, Emma Brunel, and Taylor Garcia.
