Present law provides for optional benefit allowances for FRS members and designated beneficiaries. Such options include providing for a beneficiary to receive retirement benefits after the death of the member. Proposed law retains present law. Present law further provides that an FRS member who was single at the time of retirement but who married and has been married for at least 12 months may select such a benefit option for his spouse.
