Abstract:  Authorizes the Washington Parish planning commission to cancel monthly meetings
under certain circumstances.
Present law authorizes municipal and parish planning commissions to adopt master plans to provide
for the physical development of their respective municipalities or parishes.  Provides generally that
commissions consist of not less than five nor more than nine members.  Members of a parish
planning commission are appointed by the police jury or other parish governing authority.  Requires
members to serve without compensation.  Provides exceptions.
Present law requires a commission to hold at least one regular meeting in each month.
Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law authorizes the Washington Parish planning commission to cancel monthly meetings
if there are no items to be placed on the agenda for the meeting.  Requires the commission to provide
notice to the public no less than five days prior to the scheduled meeting by placing a notice of
cancellation in the official journal of the parish and by posting notice on the door of the building in
which the meeting was to be held and on the official website of the parish.
