Louisiana House Bill HB173 Comm Sub / Analysis

                    RÉSUMÉ DIGEST
ACT 68 (HB 173) 2019 Regular Session	Stagni
Existing law allows for anyone who meets the legal requirements of a justice of the peace to
be appointed as a justice of the peace ad hoc.
New law retains existing law and further allows a justice of the peace currently elected from
the same parish as the presiding justice of the peace to be appointed as an ad hoc.
Prior law required a justice of the peace ad hoc to be paid the same compensation as the
presiding justice of the peace.
New law amends prior law to authorize, instead of require, an ad hoc justice of the peace to
be paid the same compensation as the presiding justice of the peace.
Effective August 1, 2019.
