1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 39:1556(39), relative to definitions within the Louisiana
3 Procurement Code; to provide for a technical correction to a certain definition; and
4 to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 39:1556(39) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1556. Definitions
8 As used in this Chapter, the words defined in this Section shall have the
9 meanings set forth below, unless the context in which they are used clearly requires
10 a different meaning or a different definition is prescribed for a particular Part or
11 provision:

13 (39) "Private procurement unit" means any regionally accredited
14 independent college or university in the state that is a member of the Louisiana
15 Association of Independent Colleges and Universities or any early childhood
16 learning center as defined in R.S. 46:1403(A)(6) R.S. 17:407.33(A).

Abstract: Corrects the statutory reference to early learning centers within the definition of
"private procurement unit" for purposes of the La. Procurement Code.
Present law defines "private procurement unit" for purposes of the La. Procurement Code
as any regionally accredited independent college or university in La. that is a member of the
La. Association of Independent Colleges and Universities or any early childhood learning
center as defined in present law.
Proposed law retains present law but provides a technical correction to the statutory
reference for early learning centers within the definition of "private procurement unit."
