RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 90 (HB 20) 2019 Regular Session Pearson Existing law authorizes a member of the La. School Employees' Retirement System with a specified minimum number of years of service to withdraw from service and leave his contributions in the system and to begin receiving a retirement benefit upon reaching a specified age. The required years of service and the age for benefit eligibility vary depending on the employment date on which the employee became eligible for membership in a state retirement system. Prior law authorized a member whose first employment making him eligible for membership in one of the state systems occurred on or after July 1, 2015, to exercise this option if he had credit for 10 or more years of service. New law authorizes such a member to exercise this option if he has credit for five or more years of service. Effective August 1, 2019. (Amends R.S. 11:1142(C))
