[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 240 Original 2019 Regular Session Lance Harris Abstract: Provides that movement in music class and marching band counts as physical activity for purposes of satisfying present law including the requirement that students receive at least 30 minutes of physical activity each school day. Present law requires each public school that includes any of the grades kindergarten through eight to provide at least 30 minutes each school day of quality moderate to vigorous physical activity for students. Provides that any student not enrolled in a physical education course at a public secondary school in this state is encouraged to participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity for at least 30 minutes each day.
