R.S. 40:2405.8(G) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 740:1133.1(D) and 40:2405.8(H) are hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 §1133.1. Emergency medical personnel training; licensure 9 * * * 10 D. The bureau shall ensure that Alzheimer's and dementia training are 11 incorporated within their education programs. 12 * * * 13 §2405.8. Additional peace officer training requirements 14 * * * 15 G. HLS 19RS-710 ENGROSSED HB NO. 296 1 for the implementation of a homicide investigator training program no later than July 2 1, 2016. 3 (2)(a) The council shall promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with 4 the Administrative Procedure Act, subject to the oversight of the House Committee 5 on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the Senate Committee on Judiciary B, 6 for the implementation of a sexual assault awareness training program as provided 7 in R.S. 17:1805(H) no later than October 1, 2015. 8 (b) The council shall promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with 9 the Administrative Procedure Act, subject to the oversight of the House Committee 10 on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the Senate Committee on Judiciary B, 11 for the implementation of a sexual assault awareness training program for peace 12 officers as defined in R.S. 40:2402(3)(a) as provided in Paragraph (C)(3) of this 13 Section no later than January 1, 2017. 14 (3)(a) The council shall promulgate rules in accordance with the 15 Administrative Procedure Act for implementation of the following training programs 16 for peace officers as provided in Subsections E and F of this Section: 17 (i) Domestic violence awareness training. 18 (ii) Communication with deaf or hard of hearing individuals. 19 (b) The council shall create and maintain a list of peace officers who have 20 successfully completed the domestic violence awareness training and the training on 21 communication with deaf or hard of hearing individuals. Remove the requirement that the bureau and the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training create an Alzheimer's and dementia training program for emergency medical personnel and peace officers, respectively. 2. Require the bureau and the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training to incorporate Alzheimer's and dementia training into their current curriculum. 3. Remove the requirement that the training be completed within a certain amount of time.
