1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:2405.8(G) and to enact R.S. 40:1133.1(D) and 2405.8(H),
3 relative to peace officer training; to provide for emergency medical personnel
4 training; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 40:2405.8(G) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.
7 40:1133.1(D) and 40:2405.8(H) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 §1133.1. Emergency medical personnel training; licensure

10 D. The bureau shall ensure that Alzheimer's and dementia training are
11 incorporated within their education programs.

13 §2405.8. Additional peace officer training requirements

15 G. The council shall ensure that Alzheimer's and dementia training are
16 incorporated within their education programs.
17 H.(1) The council shall promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with
18 the Administrative Procedure Act, subject to the oversight of the House Committee
19 on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the Senate Committee on Judiciary B,
20 for the implementation of a homicide investigator training program no later than July
21 1, 2016.
22 (2)(a) The council shall promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with
23 the Administrative Procedure Act, subject to the oversight of the House Committee
24 on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the Senate Committee on Judiciary B,

1 for the implementation of a sexual assault awareness training program as provided
2 in R.S. 17:1805(H) no later than October 1, 2015.
3 (b) The council shall promulgate rules and regulations in accordance with
4 the Administrative Procedure Act, subject to the oversight of the House Committee
5 on the Administration of Criminal Justice and the Senate Committee on Judiciary B,
6 for the implementation of a sexual assault awareness training program for peace
7 officers as defined in R.S. 40:2402(3)(a) as provided in Paragraph (C)(3) of this
8 Section no later than January 1, 2017.
9 (3)(a) The council shall promulgate rules in accordance with the
10 Administrative Procedure Act for implementation of the following training programs
11 for peace officers as provided in Subsections E and F of this Section:
12 (i) Domestic violence awareness training.
13 (ii) Communication with deaf or hard of hearing individuals.
14 (b) The council shall create and maintain a list of peace officers who have
15 successfully completed the domestic violence awareness training and the training on
16 communication with deaf or hard of hearing individuals.
