ACT 397 (HB 319) 2019 Regular Session Pierre
Existing law allows an insurer to appoint as an agent of the insurer any insurer insurance
producer who operates or intends to operate its business affairs as a partnership, corporation,
or other business entity, if all persons in the business entity who are actively engaged in
soliciting, negotiating, or effecting contracts of insurance or renewals hold an active producer
license.
New law extends existing law to require that all persons in the business entity who actively
engaged in soliciting, negotiating, or effecting contracts of insurance or renewals to register
with the Department of Insurance pursuant to existing law.
Effective August 1, 2019.
