HOUSE BILL NO. 487

ADOPTION:  Limits the amount of adoption filing fees in certain cases
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 13:844.1, relative to adoptions; to provide relative to adoption filing fees; to
3 provide a maximum amount of adoption filing fees for certain adoptions; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 13:844.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง844.1.  Fees; in-state adoptions
8	A.  Notwithstanding any provisions of law to the contrary, the fee assessed
9 by the clerk of court for the filing of a petition for an in-state adoption shall not
10 exceed one hundred seventy-five dollars.
11	B.  For the purpose of this Section, "in-state adoption" means any adoption
12 not involving an adoption agency located outside the state of Louisiana.
