JUDGES/DISTRICT:  Provides relative to the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 13:621.24, relative to the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District; to
3 provide for the organization of divisions within the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District;
4 to provide for the election of one judgeship in Division H; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 13:621.24 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง621.24.  Twenty-Fourth Judicial District
9	A.  The Twenty-Fourth Judicial District shall have sixteen judges.  Four
10 judges, Divisions E, J, M, and O, shall be elected from election section one; nine
11 judges, Divisions A, B, D, F, H, I, K, L, and N, shall be elected from election section
12 two; and three judges, Divisions C, G, and P, shall be elected from election section
13 three.
14	B.  Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection A of this Section, beginning
15 on January 1, 2020, the judgeship for Division H shall be elected from election
16 section 3.

Abstract:  Provides for the transfer of one judgeship from election section two of the
Twenty-Fourth Judicial District to election section three of the Twenty-Fourth
Judicial District. 
Present law requires the 24
th
 JDC to be comprised of three election sections.  Election
section two contains the Division H judgeship.
Proposed law retains present law except it transfers the Division H judgeship from election
section two to election section three beginning on Jan. 1, 2020.
