RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 62 (HB 54) 2019 Regular Session Anders Existing law generally authorizes parish governing authorities to create hospital service districts within the parish or to combine two or more parishes into a single hospital service district. Provides generally that hospital service districts are governed by a board of five commissioners. Further requires that commissioners be qualified voters and residents of the district. Existing law provides that Concordia Parish Hospital Service District Number One is governed by a board of commissioners of seven members. Existing law provides that one of the additional commissioners is designated as the physician member, and the term of such member is two years. Prior law required that the police jury appoint the immediate past chief of staff of the hospital as the physician member. Exempted the physician member from existing law requirements that commissioners be qualified voters and residents of the district. New law deletes prior law and provides that: (1)The medical staff at Riverland Medical Center shall elect from among themselves the physician member. (2)Requires that the physician member be a qualified voter and resident of the district. Effective upon signature of governor (June 3, 2019). (Amends R.S. 46:1053(Q)(2))
