HLS 19RS-496 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 10 BY REPRESENTATIVE HOFFMANN SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends Louisiana's pregnancy centers, adoption agencies, social services, pro-life organizations, and pro-life citizens and recognizes April 23, 2019, as Pro-Life Day at the state capitol 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To commend Louisiana's pregnancy centers, adoption agencies, social services, pro-life 3 organizations, and pro-life citizens and to recognize Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as Pro- 4 Life Day at the state capitol. 5 WHEREAS, all human life is a gift from our Creator and is sacred, unique, and 6worthy of protection, and each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a 7special place and purpose in this world; and 8 WHEREAS, abortion unjustly takes the life of an innocent human baby and forever 9hurts the lives of women and men involved with abortion; and 10 WHEREAS, many private citizens of Louisiana, acting out of love and compassion, 11have founded various agencies and centers dedicated to promoting a culture of life in our 12state; and 13 WHEREAS, the more than forty pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, and 14maternity homes across Louisiana are working tirelessly to preserve this great gift of life by 15helping both unborn children and their mothers; and 16 WHEREAS, for the past forty-six years, since the Supreme Court decided Roe v. 17Wade making abortion legal in Louisiana, these agencies have saved thousands and 18thousands of unborn children from abortion and in recent years have helped reduce the 19annual number of abortions in Louisiana by nearly half; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-496 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 10 1 WHEREAS, in addition to saving unborn lives, these agencies have empowered 2mothers in difficult situations by providing the material and emotional support they need, 3both before and after the birth of their child, to either parent or place their child for adoption; 4and 5 WHEREAS, these agencies have consistently offered confidential counseling to 6women and men who have experienced loss through abortion, miscarriage, and infertility; 7and 8 WHEREAS, these life-affirming agencies outnumber abortion facilities ten to one, 9showing through these agencies that Louisiana is a truly pro-life state; and 10 WHEREAS, the people of Louisiana support these agencies and their mission of 11saving lives through volunteering, donations, prayer, and purchasing Choose Life license 12plates, which funds grants for these agencies to continue their life-affirming work. 13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 14commend pregnancy resource centers, adoption agencies, social services, pro-life 15organizations, and pro-life citizens and does hereby recognize Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as 16Louisiana Pro-Life Day at the state capitol. 17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 18to the executive director of the Louisiana Right to Life Federation.
