SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates May 29, 2019, as LA Public Education Day
at the state capitol
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To designate Wednesday, May 29, 2019, as LA Public Education Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, during this time of year, students are either graduating from high school
4or are being promoted from middle school to high school or from elementary school to
5middle school; and
6 WHEREAS, as the 2018-2019 school year comes to a close, school boards,
7superintendents, principals, teachers, and staff are already planning for the new school year
8to come, thus attesting to their never-ending commitment to educate the children of the state
9of Louisiana; and
10 WHEREAS, public education is essential to the well-being of the state of Louisiana;
11and
12 WHEREAS, public education is comprised of school boards, traditional and charter
13public schools, superintendents, principals, teachers, support workers, and staff that
14collectively work every day to educate over 700,000 children in the state of Louisiana.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
16designate Wednesday, May 29, 2019, as LA Public Education Day at the state capitol and
17does hereby recognize the vital role of public education in the greatness of the state of
18Louisiana.
