HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 113
BY REPRESENTATIVES HODGES AND SCHEXNAYDER
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Robert Eden Wolfe, Jr., for his accomplishments and
service
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Robert Eden Wolfe, Jr., for his numerous accomplishments and many acts of
3 service to the citizens of Louisiana and beyond.
4 WHEREAS, born in 1955 in Nuremberg, Germany, Robert Eden Wolfe is the son
5of a career military officer; he was raised by his grandparents, and as a teenager, he served
6with the Bowie Fire Department in Maryland, residing in the firehouse during his last two
7years of high school; and
8 WHEREAS, after Mr. Wolfe graduated from high school, he enlisted and served in
9the U.S. Army, and later, the Louisiana National Guard; thereafter, he moved to Gonzales,
10where he served in the police department; he was recognized several times as Gonzales
11Police Officer of the Year, and he was also honored by the Louisiana chapter of Mothers
12Against Drunk Driving; and
13 WHEREAS, he retired from the police department after a robust twenty-five-year
14career and moved to Tennessee, where he served as a volunteer firefighter from 2008 to
152012; in 2012 he returned to Louisiana and brought his vast experience and knowledge to
16the Louisiana office of state fire marshal, where he led the successful revitalization of the
17agency's Emergency Operations Center; and
18 WHEREAS, his leadership and insight were invaluable in the reorganization of the
19Urban Search and Rescue program; his knowledge and expertise especially apparent in the
20deployment of emergency assistance in response to natural disasters in Louisiana in 2016,
21in Texas in 2017, and in Florida and South Carolina in 2018; and

1 WHEREAS, Mr. Wolfe announced his second retirement in the fall of 2018; he will
2be sorely missed by many; and
3 WHEREAS, a recent diagnosis of small cell lung cancer has given Robert Eden
4Wolfe, Jr., a new fight to take on, which he will do with the support of his loving wife,
5Valynn, and his family and friends.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
7commend Robert Eden Wolfe, Jr., for his numerous accomplishments and many acts of
8service to the citizens of Louisiana and beyond; does hereby express deep appreciation for
9the professional and selfless manner in which he served the citizens of the state of Louisiana
10and the United States; and does hereby offer its collective prayer for him in his battle against
11cancer.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13Robert Eden Wolfe, Jr.
