HLS 19RS-1322 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61 BY REPRESENTATIVE DUBUISSON CIVIL SERVICE: Requests state agencies to offer interviews to qualified veterans who apply to fill a job vacancy 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To urge and request each state agency to offer interviews to each qualified veteran who 3 applies to fill a job vacancy at the agency. 4 WHEREAS, transitioning from a military to a civilian career can be challenging for 5veterans; and 6 WHEREAS, military personnel are often cross-trained in multiple skills and have 7experience in varied tasks and responsibilities; and 8 WHEREAS, since teamwork is considered an essential part of military life and is the 9foundation on which safe military operations are built, many veterans are equipped to work 10well in a team; and 11 WHEREAS, other desirable traits that a veteran brings to the workplace include 12integrity, loyalty, leadership skills, organizational skills, discipline, and the ability to work 13under stress; and 14 WHEREAS, hiring a veteran can result in the hiring of a dedicated employee who 15is a valuable asset to the workplace and to the state and its citizens. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 17urge and request each state agency to offer interviews to each qualified veteran who applies 18to fill a job vacancy at the agency. 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Concurrent Resolution be 20transmitted to the Department of State Civil Service, the division of administration, and to 21the executive head of each state agency.
