HLS 19RS-1841 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 102 BY REPRESENTATIVE ANDERS COMMENDATIONS: Commends Joe Locke on the celebration of his ninetieth birthday 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Joe Locke upon the celebration of his ninetieth birthday. 3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Joe Locke upon the joyous and 4momentous occasion of his ninetieth birthday; and 5 WHEREAS, Joe Locke was born in Castor, Louisiana, on June 18, 1929; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Locke graduated from Minden High School in 1946; and 7 WHEREAS, he honorably served in the United States Air Force as a member of the 8Flying Tigers in 1949; and 9 WHEREAS, following his three years of military service, he was employed with 10Gulf State Utilities, also known as Entergy, for thirty-nine years; he retired in 1992; and 11 WHEREAS, in 1993, he was hired as a part-time sergeant at arms for the Louisiana 12House of Representatives and has since worked under five different Louisiana governors; 13and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Locke is one of Louisiana's finest sons, and his ninetieth birthday 15is a joyous event that deserves heartfelt congratulations; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Locke merits a sincere measure of commendation for the 17tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, state, and 18nation. 19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Joe Locke upon the momentous occasion 21of his ninetieth birthday; does hereby recognize and record for posterity the extraordinary Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-1841 ORIGINAL HR NO. 102 1life he has lived in the near-century since his birth; does hereby extend enduring gratitude 2for his outstanding accomplishments and vital contributions to his fellow citizens; and does 3hereby wish him continued happiness in the years to come. 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Joe 5Locke.
