Guillory for their service to church and community 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Reverend Mack C. Guillory, Sr., and Dr. Hilda J. Guillory for their service to 3 the church and their community. 4 WHEREAS, Reverend Mack C. Guillory, Sr., and Dr. Hilda J. Guillory have been 5amazing assets and pillars of the church and the community; and 6 WHEREAS, Mack Guillory was born to Gilbert Guillory and Elizabeth Frank 7Guillory in a rural community outside of Mamou; and 8 WHEREAS, Mack married Hilda Jones and of their union, five children were born; 9he is a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and 10 WHEREAS, Mack Guillory honorably served his country in the United States Army 11and achieved the rank of staff sergeant; and 12 WHEREAS, he earned a bachelor's degree plus thirty hours and a master's degree 13from Southern University; he also received a diploma from Moody Bible Institute and 14earned a doctor of theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary; in addition, he holds a 15certificate of progress from Calcasieu Association/National Baptist Convention; and 16 WHEREAS, Mack Guillory was a math instructor and basketball coach in the 17Evangeline Parish school system, and he retired after twenty-seven years of teaching; and 18 WHEREAS, in 1971, Mack answered the call to preach while he was a member of 19St. Paul Baptist Church in Mamou; he also preached at other churches in Louisiana; in 1985, 20he was elected vice president of the Louisiana Baptist State Convention and in 1989 he 21became the pastor of Old Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lake Charles; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-1253 ORIGINAL HR NO. 115 1 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, 2and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon citizens like 3Reverend Mack Guillory, Sr., and Dr. Hilda J. Guillory who serve as inspirations to all; and 4 WHEREAS, over the past thirty years, the Guillorys have been faithful, encouraging, 5and passionate about salvation, Christian education, and so much more; and 6 WHEREAS, on Sunday, August 18, 2019, the members of Old Emmanuel Baptist 7Church in Lake Charles will gather to celebrate the thirtieth pastoral anniversary of 8Reverend Mack Guillory, Sr., and Dr. Hilda Guillory. 9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Reverend Mack C. Guillory, Sr., and Dr. 11Hilda J. Guillory on their thirty years of service and does hereby recognize the spiritual 12leadership, inspiration, and guidance that Reverend Guillory and Dr. Guillory provide to 13their church and community. 14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 15Reverend Mack C.
