HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 117
BY REPRESENTATIVES JENKINS, CARMODY, GLOVER, NORTON, AND
SEABAUGH
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Ralph D.
Balentine.
WHEREAS, it is with heavy hearts that the members of the House of Representatives
have learned of the death on April 8, 2019, of Ralph D. Balentine, at the age of eighty-four;
and
WHEREAS, Ralph D. Balentine was born on August 8, 1934, in Sterlington,
Louisiana, to Samuel Louis Balentine and Mamie Flanagan Balentine; and
WHEREAS, he studied plumbing and worked as a plumbing apprentice at a nursing
home for many years; he later served as administrative manager of a nursing home in
Pineville; and
WHEREAS, his family moved to Bossier City and he was instrumental in the
founding and managing of Midway Manor Nursing Home, Shreveport Manor Nursing
Home, and Roseview Nursing Center; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Balentine served two terms as president of the Louisiana Nursing
Home Association and established the Louisiana Ambulance Association serving as
president of the association for several years; and
WHEREAS, he was a leader in senior living and healthcare services in northwest
Louisiana; his advocacy efforts locally and statewide helped shape the industry into what it
is today; and
WHEREAS, a devout Gideon, Ralph played a key role in the distribution of bibles
in various languages to all parts of the world; he loved the Lord, his church, and his men's
Sunday school class; and

WHEREAS, left to cherish the memory of Ralph D. Balentine are his wife of thirty-
eight years, LaVeta Cloud Balentine; his sister, Melba Lane Balentine; his daughters, Pam
McBeath, and her husband Carl, and Rhonda Lane Balentine; his son, Darrell Keith
Balentine, and his wife Tina; his step-daughter, Cari Saiz, and her husband Gilbert; his step-
sons, Matthew Allbritton, and his wife Valarie, and Michael Allbritton, and his wife,
Andrea; grandchildren, Casey McBeath, Darrell Balentine, Jr., Jessica Balentine, Hanna
Balentine, Kendyl Balentine Tipton, and her husband Zach, Samuel Balentine, Zachary Saiz,
Madison Saiz, Benson Allbritton, Marissa Statham, Isabella Statham, Henry Statham, Wyatt
Statham, and Matthew Statham; and his great-granddaughter, Ainslee Balentine; and
WHEREAS, although his death has left a tremendous void in his community, Mr.
Balentine's memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who were fortunate
enough to know and love him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express condolences upon the death of Ralph D.
Balentine; does hereby express heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends; and does
hereby extend thoughts and wishes for peace in this time of sorrow and hopes for fond and
lasting memories.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Ralph D. Balentine.
