CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences on the death of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson
1 A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Emma Louise
3 Patterson Johnson.
4 WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5House of Representatives learned of the death of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson, on
6May 4, 2019, at the age of eighty-one; and
7 WHEREAS, Emma Louise Patterson Johnson was born on July 22, 1937, to Whit
8Patterson and Beatrice Patsy Lyles; and
9 WHEREAS, Emma Louise Johnson devoted her life to her family and to her church,
10First Baptist Church in Natchitoches; Ms. Johnson enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking,
11watching game shows, and playing bingo; and
12 WHEREAS, family was a high priority and she spent many days caring for her
13grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
14 WHEREAS, left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Patsy Ward Hoover, and
15her husband Edward; sons, Walter, and his wife Carol, Perry Joe, and his wife Shelia, Larry,
16and his wife Diane, Paul, and his wife Catherine, Ronnie, and his wife Deborah, and Donnie,
17and his wife Zendra; sisters, Eartis and Orelia, and her husband Leon; twenty grandchildren,
18thirty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
19nephews, other relatives, and dear friends; and

1 WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
2great-great-grandmother, and woman of faith; her passing leaves a void in the lives of her
3family, friends, and community; and
4 WHEREAS, all those who know and loved her can take solace in the knowledge that
5Ms. Johnson is absent from the body and present with the Lord.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express condolences upon the death of Emma Louise
8Patterson Johnson, does hereby express heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends, and
9does hereby extend thoughts and wishes for peace in this time of sorrow and hopes for fond
10and lasting memories.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
12family of Emma Louise Patterson Johnson.
