BY REPRESENTATIVES BERTHELOT, BACALA, BRASS, AND SCHEXNAYDER
COMMENDATIONS: Commends the St. Amant High School softball team on winning the
2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the St. Amant High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana
3 High School Athletic Association Class 5A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the St. Amant High School softball team completed a sensational 2019
5season, earning the title of Class 5A state champions; and
6 WHEREAS, St. Amant's victory over Barbe on Saturday, April 27, 2019, marked the
7Lady Gators' sixth state title, first title game since 2006, and first state championship in
8nearly fifteen years; and
9 WHEREAS, the Lady Gators completed their season with an overall record of 28-2-
101; and
11 WHEREAS, the distinguished performance of the entire St. Amant Gators softball
12team throughout the regular season and the postseason has earned them the Class 5A
13championship title; and
14 WHEREAS, each of the following Gators performed at the highest level of
15excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital
16contributions to the winning effort: Jesse Allison, Baleigh Bentivegna, Rylie Boudreaux,
17Addie Bourgeois, Meghan Boutwell, Caterina Byars, Eva Crochet, Lauren Crochet, Marie
18Crochet, Carmen Dixon, Kailey Dufour, Payton Granier, Chandler Guedry, Sydney Hughes,
19Kendyl Kerr, Julia Kramer, Harleigh Lemonds, Addiston Mahoney, Kelsi Martine, Kaylee
20Parker, Naylie Rodriguez, Alyssa Romano, Rylee Rossi, Sophie Smith, Kyra Sorenson, and
21Shelby Whittington; and

1 WHEREAS, the Gators' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would not
2have been possible without the guidance and skills of head coach Amy Pitre, coaches John
3Bentivegna, Jay Brignac, Darrel Landry, and Mark Maher; statistician Misty Whittington;
4and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's softball
5program; and
6 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
7Gators, and all St. Amant High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
8distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the St. Amant High School softball team
11upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state
12championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone
13involved with this fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and
14prepare for continued success in the future.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16Coach Amy Pitre.
