COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable Sam Jones
for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions to his district
and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Sam Jones and to express enduring gratitude for his outstanding
3 contributions to the parishes of Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary and the state of
4 Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana
5 House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Sam Jones is a notable public servant who has served with excellence
7as a state representative since taking office in 2008, during which time he has fully used
8every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 50 and the state in an honorable and
9dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, a graduate of Franklin High School, Representative Jones received a
11bachelor of arts degree in history from Nicholls State University; and
12 WHEREAS, Representative Jones has been a proud member of the Acadiana
13Delegation, Democratic Caucus, for which he served as whip, and Rural Caucus, for which
14he served on the executive committee; and
15 WHEREAS, Representative Jones's diligent committee service has included serving
16as the vice-chairman of the House Committee on Retirement and a member of the
17Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee, the House Committee on Municipal,
18Parochial and Cultural Affairs, the House Committee on Natural Resources and
19Environment, the House Committee on Retirement, and the House Committee on
20Transportation, Highways and Public Works; and

1 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Jones
2has authored and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
3 WHEREAS, Sam Jones will forever have a special place in the chronicles of the
4history of Louisiana, for he is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public servants; and
5 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
6of his life, Representative Jones merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
7contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
8Louisiana House of Representatives.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Sam Jones; does hereby
11extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments, particularly
12during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been
13marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents in the
14parishes of Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and
15does hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated
16his intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
18expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Jones for his service to the citizens of
19Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
20body, and does hereby extend to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
21prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
23Honorable Sam Jones.
