COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Metairie Park Country Day School boys' basketball
team on winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III
state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Metairie Park Country Day School boys' basketball team upon winning the
3 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, on March 9, 2019, in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association
5(LHSAA) tournament in Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, the Country Day Cajuns battled
6the Dunham Tigers and denied their opponent a state championship earning a seventh state
7title for Metairie Park Country Day School with a 58-48 victory; and
8 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Mike McGuire, and his assistant
9coaches, Roland Daniels, Edward Ludwig, and Justin Napoli, and with the help of assistant
10athletic director Dana Launey, head trainer Matthew Reynolds, and administrative support
11from Metairie Park Country Day School Head of School Matt Neely, each member of the
12Country Day boys' basketball team exerted the energy and discipline necessary to become
13champions and is worthy of mention: Christian Becnel, Nicky Corchiani, Alex Dreyer, Xane
14Hunter, Justin Ibieta, Scott Isacks, Kaleb Jenkins, Gabe Kohlmaier, Hartson Moss, Evan
15Nunez, Thomas Polinard, Michael Talbot, and Ross Talbot; and
16 WHEREAS, Coach McGuire has instilled an ethic of winning in these fine young
17men and has demonstrated leadership and motivational skills that have led to success both
18on and off the court for the Country Day Cajuns; and
19 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the Metairie Park
20Country Day School Cajuns have earned; to commend the team for the ability they have

1displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of competition; and to express sincere and
2heartfelt congratulations to the team members and coaching staff for the merits earned and
3the sportsmanship shown while achieving the highest state boys' basketball honor possible
4for Metairie Park Country Day School.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Metairie Park Country Day School boys'
7basketball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
8Division III state championship; does hereby congratulate the student athletes, coaches, and
9staff of the team for completing a spectacular season; and does hereby recognize the team's
10outstanding performance and the pride and honor they have brought to their school and
11community.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Head
13Coach Mike McGuire.
