HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 182
BY REPRESENTATIVES TALBOT AND ABRAMSON
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Metairie Park Country Day School boys' basketball team upon winning the
2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III state championship.
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2019, in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association
(LHSAA) tournament in Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, the Country Day Cajuns battled
the Dunham Tigers and denied their opponent a state championship earning a seventh state
title for Metairie Park Country Day School with a 58-48 victory; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Mike McGuire, and his assistant
coaches, Roland Daniels, Edward Ludwig, and Justin Napoli, and with the help of assistant
athletic director Dana Launey, head trainer Matthew Reynolds, and administrative support
from Metairie Park Country Day School Head of School Matt Neely, each member of the
Country Day boys' basketball team exerted the energy and discipline necessary to become
champions and is worthy of mention: Christian Becnel, Nicky Corchiani, Alex Dreyer, Xane
Hunter, Justin Ibieta, Scott Isacks, Kaleb Jenkins, Gabe Kohlmaier, Hartson Moss, Evan
Nunez, Thomas Polinard, Michael Talbot, and Ross Talbot; and
WHEREAS, Coach McGuire has instilled an ethic of winning in these fine young
men and has demonstrated leadership and motivational skills that have led to success both
on and off the court for the Country Day Cajuns; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the Metairie Park
Country Day School Cajuns have earned; to commend the team for the ability they have
displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of competition; and to express sincere and
heartfelt congratulations to the team members and coaching staff for the merits earned and
the sportsmanship shown while achieving the highest state boys' basketball honor possible
for Metairie Park Country Day School.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Metairie Park Country Day School boys'
basketball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
Division III state championship; does hereby congratulate the student athletes, coaches, and
staff of the team for completing a spectacular season; and does hereby recognize the team's
outstanding performance and the pride and honor they have brought to their school and
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Head
Coach Mike McGuire.
