COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Tioga High School baseball team on winning the
2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Tioga High School baseball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High
3 School Athletic Association Class 4A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Indians finished the 2019 season with twenty-four wins against only
5five losses for an outstanding .828 winning percentage on the year and had a perfect 14-0
6record in home games; and
7 WHEREAS, each student athlete on the team performed at the highest levels of
8excellence on the baseball field and deserves recognition for his vital contributions to the
9winning effort: seniors Guillermo Arellano, Shay Bernard, Peyton Forester, and Landon
10Terrell; juniors Gavin Basco, Rylon Ganey, Terrick Joseph, Joseph Newman, Landon
11Simpson, Bryce Smith, Nathan Wiley, Isaac Williams, and Neal Woodard; sophomores
12Ethan Christman, Luke Daniels, Christian Dufour, Terence Grines, Logan Laffoon, Ethan
13Looney, Blake McGehee, Jantzen Prestridge, and David Roper; freshmen Riley Liggin,
14Sebastian Renfrow, Kaden Sanders, Haydan Toal, and Sean Woodard; and Corey Ray, all
15of whom displayed amazing feats of athleticism and endurance throughout the season; and
16 WHEREAS, Coach David Montiel and his assistants, Taylor Beavers, Steven Davis,
17Adam Forester, Kevin McGehee, and Chad Renfrow capably and admirably contributed to
18the successes of the Tioga High School 2019 baseball program and were invaluable to the
19team's quest to capture the state championship; Coach Montiel has instilled an attitude of
20winning in these student athletes and has demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
21that will keep the members of the team on a path of excellence for the rest of their lives; and

1 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the Indians have
2earned; to commend the team for the ability it has displayed, particularly at the most difficult
3level of competition; and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the team
4members and coaching staff for the merits earned and the sportsmanship shown while
5achieving the crowning moment of Louisiana High School Athletic Association baseball and
6attaining the highest honor possible for Tioga High School.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the athletes and coaches
9of the Tioga High School baseball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High School
10Athletic Association Class 4A state championship, capping off a truly spectacular season,
11and does hereby recognize the team's outstanding performance and the pride and honor it has
12brought to its school and community.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Head
14Coach David Montiel.
