COMMENDATIONS: Commends Kenny Sharpe on his retirement after forty-one years of
service with the LSU AgCenter
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Kenny Sharpe on his retirement after forty-one years of dedicated service with
3 the LSU Agricultural Center.
4 WHEREAS, Kenny Sharpe first joined the LSU Agricultural Center in 1978 as an
5assistant county 4-H agent in Ascension Parish; and
6 WHEREAS, he soon moved to Livingston Parish, serving as a 4-H agent until he
7became county agent, in 1988; and
8 WHEREAS, since 1992, he has been the southeast district livestock show manager,
9coordinating more than five hundred exhibitors and one thousand livestock exhibits; and
10 WHEREAS, to better serve his community, Kenny established: an annual beef tour
11for Livingston beef producers, the Livingston Forest Landowner Association, and the
12Livingston Parish farmers market; he also started the first Livingston Parish Mosquito
13Abatement Program and served as president of the board; and
14 WHEREAS, Kenny received a Distinguished Service Award from the National
15Association of County Agricultural Agents in 1996 and has penned a weekly column for
16thirty-one years called "Sharpe's Point" on agricultural tips for the Livingston Parish News;
17and
18 WHEREAS, when Kenny Sharpe officially retires on May 31, 2019, he will have
19given forty-one years, his entire professional career, to serving the people of Louisiana
20through the LSU Agricultural Center.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Kenny Sharpe upon the celebration of his
3retirement after a long and productive career with the LSU Agricultural Center; does hereby
4express enduring gratitude to Kenny Sharpe for his innumerable contributions to the success
5of farmers, gardeners, and landowners throughout the state; and does hereby extend to him
6best wishes for continued happiness and success in the future.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
8Kenny Sharpe.
