HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 205

COMMENDATIONS: Commends Bishop Dr. Rickey Jones Moore, Sr., on his twenty-first
pastoral anniversary
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Bishop Dr. Rickey Jones Moore, Sr., on the occasion of his twenty-first
3 anniversary as pastor of Sunrise Baptist Church.
4 WHEREAS, Rickey Jones Moore, Sr., earned a bachelor of arts degree from Bishop
5College in Dallas, Texas, and received an honorary doctorate degree from Stenson College
6in Aiken, South Carolina; he earned a doctor of divinity degree at Inter-Baptist Theological
7Seminary in Shreveport and doctorate degrees in ministry and literature from Word of Life
8Bible School of Marshall, Texas; on June 28, 2013, bishop-elect Moore was consecrated to
9the office of bishop; and
10 WHEREAS, Bishop Moore is a prolific author who has penned four books: My
11Passion for Preaching, Passion for Prayer, Seasoning for the Sermon, and Living Between
12the Now and the Not Yet; and
13 WHEREAS, mentored by Dr. C.A.W. Clark, Sr., who was a master of the pulpit and
14influenced generations of preachers, Bishop Moore preached in Dr. Clark's stead at Good
15Street Baptist Church in south Dallas on many occasions; he also conducted revivals when
16Dr. Clark's health deteriorated; and
17 WHEREAS, for more than thirty-five years, Bishop Moore has responded to his
18Master's call to preach; he has carried the gospel to more than twenty states and the country
19of Germany, and his love for God's people, his humbleness, and his passion for the Word of
20God is worthy of celebration on the occasion of his twenty-first pastoral anniversary at
21Sunrise Baptist Church.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Bishop Dr. Rickey Jones
3Moore, Sr., upon the occasion of his twenty-first pastoral anniversary and does hereby
4express best hopes and prayers for continued fruitful labors in the vineyard of his Lord.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
6Bishop Moore.
