HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 223

COMMENDATIONS: Commends Matt Kinney for his service as a firefighter and chaplain
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Matt Kinney for his service as a firefighter and chaplain in Bossier City and
3 the town of Haughton.
4 WHEREAS, Matt Kinney has helped save lives and property in Louisiana for
5nineteen years as a firefighter with the Bossier City Fire Department; and
6 WHEREAS, Matt is chaplain for Bossier Parish Fire District No. 1 and for the
7Haughton Fire Department; he also serves as assistant chaplain for Bossier City Fire
8Department and for the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana; and
9 WHEREAS, trained in critical incident stress management and suicide awareness and
10prevention, Matt helped to set up several critical incident peer support programs in northwest
11Louisiana; and
12 WHEREAS, Matt Kinney is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Haughton; he is
13married to Melissa and is the proud father of Riley, Kylie, and Sage; and
14 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the selfless service Matt Kinney provides to
15his fellow citizens as a firefighter and the spiritual renewal he bestows to his fellow
16firefighters in his ministry as a chaplain.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
18Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Matt Kinney for his service as a firefighter
19and as chaplain to firefighters; does hereby express abiding appreciation for the prayers he
20prays on behalf of the legislators of this great state; and does hereby offer best wishes for
21many more productive years as a firefighter and chaplain in Bossier City and Haughton.
