HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 223
BY REPRESENTATIVE HORTON
A RESOLUTION
To commend Matt Kinney for his service as a firefighter and chaplain in Bossier City and
the town of Haughton.
WHEREAS, Matt Kinney has helped save lives and property in Louisiana for
nineteen years as a firefighter with the Bossier City Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Matt is chaplain for Bossier Parish Fire District No. 1 and for the
Haughton Fire Department; he also serves as assistant chaplain for Bossier City Fire
Department and for the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, trained in critical incident stress management and suicide awareness and
prevention, Matt helped to set up several critical incident peer support programs in northwest
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Matt Kinney is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Haughton; he is
married to Melissa and is the proud father of Riley, Kylie, and Sage; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the selfless service Matt Kinney provides to
his fellow citizens as a firefighter and the spiritual renewal he bestows to his fellow
firefighters in his ministry as a chaplain.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Matt Kinney for his service as a firefighter
and as chaplain to firefighters; does hereby express abiding appreciation for the prayers he
prays on behalf of the legislators of this great state; and does hereby offer best wishes for
many more productive years as a firefighter and chaplain in Bossier City and Haughton.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Matt
Kinney.
